For a long time, Carter had a hard time dressing casually. In fact, even now he's most comfortable in linen pants and a button down shirt, but he's learned to fit in he has to blend in... so he can actually wear jeans now. He even goes for t-shirts occasionally, which would stun his family if they knew. He keeps his face a little scruffy, though never erring on the side of a full beard unless he's on vacation. Even then, the moment he's back home, he tends to go back to a five o'clock shadow more often than not. He is comfortable in his hight, and carries himself well with it. In fact, he carries himself most often as a man of high breeding should, and it may be one of the few full-on tells that he's not quite the story he tells others about himself.

ABILITIES & SKILLS BUSINESS
Though he does not speak of it in The Ridge, he is 3/4 (silent) shareholder in the Lennox Group, which was started by his father in 1972. Though he was disowned by his parents for being gifted with Psychometry, they sent him away with 'a gift' of their own. He had enough money to invest through a false name in the company, and within a few years he was a majority shareholder. Though it left him with very little money of his own for several years, he has since earned back all of the money he invested and more. He is waiting until his father dies before he steps forward and tells the board that the Lennox Group has been passed down exactly as it should have been from the beginning. Until then, he carries the name Carter Broussard and is a 'working stiff' at the corporation he started to own the shares. But it's all very hush hush. There are very few people who know the secrets of his world, and those that do are sworn to secrecy. Until his father's death, he will never answer to the name Barron Lennox, so don't even try.

PSYCHOMETRY
Psychometry is defined as: obtaining information about a person or object, usually by touching or concentrating on the object or a related object, or making skin-to-skin contact with the person. Carter's Psychometry is skin-to-skin based, and after it manifested, he started wearing gloves at all times. When he moved to The Ridge, he decided it was time to learn to control himself more fully, and he degloved himself. He now only wears gloves when he's having a particularly hard time, and he is generally able to keep himself from 'reading' people, unless he wants to. It can be gotten through in highly charged situations, or when either himself or the other person is in a state of high emotion.
HISTORY Barron Carter Lennox was born with a platinum spoon in his mouth. That is to say, he was born into a life of excess. His father started the Lennox Group in 1972, and by the time Barron was born in 1979, the company was earning over $40 million a year. From the time he was small, Barron was given every opportunity. He rode horses from the age of five, spoke four languages (English, Spanish, Japanese, and German), wanted for nothing, and expected life to always be that way. He was spoiled by his parents, given anything he wanted practically before he could ask for it, and the fact that others lived with far less never struck him. Poor people simply didn't exist on his radar. He went to private schools, where no-one got free lunch and his classmates were sons and daughters of the famous and bored.

Life likely would have continued it's excess forever for Barron, but at the age 14, as puberty slowed it's inexorable march at last, he realized that something had changed within him. Not just hair, or muscle development, or sexual exploration... no, this was an altogether different kind of change. It started with a girl at school, who leaned across his desk to toss something to a friend. Her shirt rose up just a little, leaving her waist bare, and she started to slip downward due to the angle of the wood. He reached out to steady her and was flooded with a sudden knowledge of her life. The time her brother tripped her on the stairs when she was four. The way her father drank too much and yelled. The kisses she'd shared with her 11 year old neighbor. The boy who'd touched her in a club downtown and how much she'd liked it. He jerked his hand back from her, and sat, staring. He said nothing. It didn't mean anything.

But it had meant something, and more and more in the next few months he would have it happen again. He took to wearing gloves to protect himself from the innocent touches of classmates. When they asked about them, he told clever lies about being constantly cold ("It's probably the cheap air circulation systems"), or about the fear of germs ("God knows the help doesn't know how to clean well enough to ensure I don't die from some kind of superbug"), or simply not liking to touch people. But even with his hands covered, sometimes skin-to-skin contact was inevitable. The gentle kiss on the cheek he earned from Cassidy Graine left him reeling, not from the power of a kiss but because he knew as soon as she did it that she'd broken her mother's favorite vase last year because the bitch deserved it for the way she acted at the Christmas party. Mrs. Paestor put a gentle hand on his arm as she leaned over to answer a question he had on a test, and he was flooded with the information that she and her husband had been trying for almost four years to have a baby and how she thought maybe it was him that was the problem, not her. Maybe he's the broken one and how she was contemplating having an affair with Mr. Keene the Gym teacher. He didn't want whatever it was that caused this, but it appeared to be with him for good now.

He kept quiet about his new ability until nearly four years later. Eighteen year old Barron was asking for the car, and when his dad had gone to hand him the keys, their fingers touched for a second. Barron knew about the affair with his secretary, the affair with the neighbor, the affair with a list of women who flashed like a choppy old movie across his brain. "You insufferable bastard," he said, before he could hold it back, "you complete and utter shitbag of a human being." There was a gasp from behind him and he turned to look at his mother, his eyes widening just a little. "He's cheated on you... so many times," he choked out, not sure how to explain how he knew. But it all came pouring out as his father tried to deny it, and by the end of it all, his father stood on one side, and he stood on the other, both of them with fire in their eyes. His parents didn't believe him about his gift. They denied that it could be, over and over again, until he walked to his mother and took her hands in his and let it wash over him. "You had an abortion two years before I was born because when you found out you were pregnant, you'd been taking pills. They told you the baby would be sick. That it would have to be in an institution. You didn't even tell Dad that you were pregnant. You called the place in Shreveport and had it done the same day. When they were done, they told you to lay there for twenty minutes, and then you could leave, but you couldn't move for almost an hour. You cried the entire time. You stopped the pills, but you were afraid every day when you were pregnant with me that I would be sick, too. When I was born, you actually prayed to thank God." His mother stared at him, and then she opened her mouth, she told him to go. She told him she didn't have a son. That he was dead to her. Evil. Vile. His father joined in the refrain. Leave. Go. Evil.

He came back only once, a week later, when his father called to tell him to. He was brought to the office, sat down, and handed a check. Pierce Lennnox called it 'a final gift. As of now, you are no longer our son.' He was given the key to a storage unit where his things were kept, and walked to the door by one of the help. He never looked back. He went to storage, got the few things he couldn't live without, and started his life over again. Barron Lennox had no parents. Fine. Carter Broussard didn't need parents. He cashed the check, and made a plan.

Over the next several years, he created a corporation, on paper. His corporation began buying shares in the Lennox Group. Before long, he was the majority shareholder. It left him nearly destitute to do, but by the time 2005 rolled around, he had not only earned back his investment, but had started making real money in return. The money was funneled into the "corporation", and two years later, the paper business became a real one with Carter Broussard as one of it's working-stiff employees. As far as anyone knows, Edgerton Investment Corp is just a business that sprung up in New Orleans, and has been a fine company to work for ever since. Its employees speak highly of it. Especially one Carter Broussard.
